Charity Appeal: Help Us Create a Space That Feels Like Home

For patients recovering from life-changing spinal cord injuries, hospital can feel like a world away from home. At the North West Regional Spinal Injuries Centre, based at Southport Hospital, many stay with us not for days, but for weeks or even months, working hard to rebuild strength, movement, and independence.

During such long stays, it’s important to have a place to escape the clinical ward, somewhere to relax and unwind. Right now, that place is our day room, but we need your help!

Following patient feedback about the inpatient day room, the space would benefit greatly from modernisation and improvements to enhance its functionality and create a more welcoming environment. That’s why we’ve launched our Charity Appeal to raise £50,000 to transform the day room into a welcoming, modern, and accessible space where patients can:

• Spend time with their families and loved ones
• Read, listen to music, or enjoy hobbies
• Socialise with others 
• Simply take a break from the clinical environment
